Length: 5.1 miles (8.3km)

Hills: ↑ 561 feet

  • Parking: Free at start in Godstone Village. Caution though - it’s limited to 3 hours so if you think you will be longer, use curbside parking instead.

Alternatives: Tilburstow Hill Car Park (mile 1.75) is free. It’s the highest point on the walk, so if you start there, you end with a big hill.

  • Tricky

Nearest station is Godstone, but it’s 2.5 miles from the village, and 1.5 miles from the nearest point of the route (mile 6). There are local buses from Oxted or Redhill.

  • Godstone (at the start/end) is well served for pubs, cafés and shops, we’ve mentioned some favourites below.

    Hare + Hounds, Godstone Village Green, RH9 8LN (start/end)

Probably the most affordable of the pubs in this village with nice food, friendly service and a traditional feel. Dogs welcome.

    The Bell Inn, Godstone, RH9 8DX (start/end)

A fancier gastropub option, probably not the place for muddy boots.

  • Start/finish: Londis and Coughlans Bakery in Godstone

“It was still too early in the year to be starting a 10-miler at 1pm, but we headed off anyway, and the treat was one of the most spectacular sunsets I’ve ever seen. The world turned gold, then the sky shot peptobismol pink and by the time we arrived at the back in Bletchingley the church, festooned with fairy lights, was twinkling in the gloaming.”
